Why YAP?

Uniting efforts to preserve, promote, and sustain the vital role of yaks in Pakistan’s highland communities.

Mission

To assure the quality of inputs, yak health, breeding, and feeding services, we give priority to development program design, coordination, and implementation. Our primary goal is to maintain the genetic and phenotypic purity of the Pakistani yak and its hybrids. Policies, laws, rules, standards, and guidelines will be developed to encourage the expansion of yaks in Pakistan’s northern regions.

Vision

Create a resilient and creative society by improving resource management for improved yak foster and eco-tourism. Encourage the use of beneficial and climate-smart measures to enhance the yak environment. Promoting, branding, and value the presence and advantages of yaks in Pakistan’s economy are our main priorities.

What Do We Do

At the Yak Association of Pakistan (YAP), we are dedicated to empowering yak-dependent communities and preserving Pakistan’s rich yak heritage. We provide support and resources to yak herders, enhance their livelihoods, and promote sustainable grazing practices to protect fragile alpine ecosystems. By collaborating with researchers and institutions, we foster advancements in yak health, productivity, and eco-friendly management. Through awareness campaigns, educational programs, and events, we highlight the cultural and economic significance of yaks, while creating opportunities for value-added products like milk, meat, wool, and leather to boost local economies. YAP is committed to a future where tradition, innovation, and conservation come together to sustain yak culture in Pakistan.
